Hello everyone,

So here the deal - I have a Platy that is missing in the current tank:
40 gallon tank with a tightly secured lid:
4 Tiger Barbs
2 Rosy Barbs
2 YoYo's
and 3 other Platy's.
All of the fish are adults.

I last saw the 4th Platy 3 nights ago and last night I searched without luck all of the hiding spots and checked to make sure that my filter could not suck him up. I would not think that the fish I have would have completely eaten the Platy or at least there would be some remains left over. Is it possible I have a Hannibal Lector fish?

Thanks,
CM

While I highly doubt that one of your fish killed the platy to eat it, I would not be surprised if the platy died of natural causes and then the other fish disposed of the body.

I agree. The Yoyos themselves probably could have taken care of most of the deceased in short order.

Well now that you mention it the YoYo's have looked more chunky than usually in the few days. I am still just amazed that there were no remains anywhere in the tank.

Thanks,
CM

The Yoyos are very good scavengers I recently bought four and they are always on the hunt for food. I dont think it would take them very long to finish off a dead fish.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Mystery solved. I was performing my weekly water changes and the YoYo's had stuffed the corpse of the platy in a corner. On top of that they were keeping the other fish away from it. In all they ate the head, tail and about a quarter of the torso.
