Over the past 6 weeks I have lost 2 Platy's in suicide dives out of my tank during the night! Trouble is I have a lid on my tank, with 2 small (2cm x 2cm) gaps in 2 corners for airlines and heater cables and they seem to get out of these!
I can't work out why they have started to do this as I've had them about a year now and have never seen any lemming like activities while cleaning the tank or moving logs around?
I have one left and I can't bare to wake up in 6 weeks time to find a dried out corpse beside my tank in the morning!

Check your water parameters, particularly pH. Maybe it is too high/low for their liking.
Are there any other fish in the tank?

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Current water parameters are normal, PH is about 8, and current stock is:
3 Coolie Loaches, 2 Hillstream Loaches, 1 Angelfish, 1 Saimese Fighting Fish, 1 Peppered Cory, 2 Silvertip Tetra and 3 Platy's!
If they don't like the PH would that make them jump?

As mentioned above, it's probably due to the water parameters. I suggest you tape up the holes with scotch tape or something. Don't think fish would get stuck on the exposed parts

i'd rather risk a little stickiness than risk them be dried cat food outside the tank. most likely they'll hit the tape and bounce off.

You could of course, keep sticking the exposed parts til they aren't sticky anymore, and leave the parts that actually stick on to the tank adhesive.

I'll cover up the holes but I want to treat the cause of the problem too...if my parameters are normal would could it be?
I would understand if they were nervous fish but they seem very happy...apart from jumping out of the tank at night!

Looks like you're going to have to give it some time. Maybe it'll get better after a few days?

I agree, try taping up the sides.

Although this is a bit off topic, your cories will be much happier in a group of 5 or more ^_^

I've heard this quite a bit, but he's the happiest most active fish in the tank! I'd be nervous of putting any more fish in there and the Cory gives the Khuli Loaches one hell of a time bumping around the place and trying to hoover them up, so I wouldn't want to add to their woes!
