But, sometimes it is possible Where you will be looking is on the belly of the little girl. It will appear as a darker gray/black spot on her abdomen. As she is getting closer to the time of the drop it will appear darker and larger. She will also get rounder, and eventually start to appear more box like, when her time comes. Keep in mind if she has been in a tank with males for any amount of time, it is more than likely that she is pregnant. She will continue to drop fry each month (about every 28-32 days), even if she is no longer kept with a male, as they can store the sperm. And it can take 6-9 months for this storage to be used up. ashes Hobbyist Posts: 75 Kudos: 45 Votes: 0 Registered: 05-Oct-2005 | Well after I left my last post I went to my room to feed my fish and as I was feeding my platy a fry shot out from its hiding spot grabed some food then shot right back down. I was so stunned to see the little fry I just stood there staring at my tank anyways after I regained my sences I started looking around the bottom of the tank and found 5 fry. I took them out and put them in there own tanke then when I went back to the tank I had the mom in she had another one so I have a total of 6 fry. Since then she hasn't had any more fry is she doneHow many do they have at a time and how long does it take |
