how many guppies can i have in a 5-gallon, maybe 3, im thinking of getting 2 females and 1 male. once they start to have babies im going to feed my red devil the frys.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Just make sure you don't slack on the water changes, though, because the females can get pretty big.
