I live in a hot climate. The temp in my house reaches 90 degrees sometimes. I lost a molly yesterday due to the heat i think.
I have since opened the lid and have a box fan blowing across the top.
I am not authorized to have Air Conditioning in my house so I hope that this will work....

i dont think a fan would help much. you could buy a chiller which is basically like a heater but makes the water cooler. howerver they r very expensive. You could also put a cold pack in the filter.

ok dont quote me on this but i think fish often die when it gets hot because they cant get enough air. also, the more current in a tank the cooler the water. you could get an airstone or a pump or another filter and that might help

There are a couple of other thread discussing keeping tanks cool. Hope these help.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

its one of the alternatives that will work...to certain extent...its just so unfortunate for u ur now allowed an AC coz thats the best there is. there r some who put cold packs as one said...but sometimes it doesnt work...may give u cold spots in ur tank...and u have to be there often to change packs..and this gives slight flactuations as well.

a fan will work just fine, be sure to increase airation as well as this will maximise the surface exposure to the moving air. Also try and keep your lights off during the hottest part of the day. Cold packs aren't the best of choices as the cold spots will stress your fish far worse than warm water will.
