is a fan a good way to cool my tank? | |

I lost a molly yesterday due to the heat i think. I have since opened the lid and have a box fan blowing across the top. I am not authorized to have Air Conditioning in my house so I hope that this will work.... |

You could also put a cold pack in the filter. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/NavResults.cfm?N=2004+113768&ref=3532&subref=AS ok dont quote me on this but i think fish often die when it gets hot because they cant get enough air. also, the more current in a tank the cooler the water. you could get an airstone or a pump or another filter and that might help |

That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Also try and keep your lights off during the hottest part of the day. Cold packs aren't the best of choices as the cold spots will stress your fish far worse than warm water will. |
