I have a guppy in a tank with no heater but the room temperature down here in Florida stays relatively warm so I don't have to worry about a heater. A comfortable temperature range for guppies falls between 64 and 82 degrees F. That being such a broad range, your guppies will more than likely be fine as long as you stay within these parameters. The temperature of the water when they breed is usually way towards the warmer end, but it doesn't sound like you are worried about that anyway. Good luck!

Yeah, a guppy pair could survive without a heater. They, like bettas, prefer warm water. However, also like bettas, they do just fine in cool water. As long as the temperature doesn't fluctuate too much, some guppies should be okay.

Guppies do like warmer water, but they have no problem adapting to cooler water. As long as the tank is inside it will never be all that cold anyway.

You should be ok, but instead of getting a pair 1 male and 1 female, why not get just a couple of males. The female is bound to get pregnant, and will have the fry, then you will be overcrowded...Also WalMart sales a nice little 5 gallon heater, less than $10, next time you have the money go ahead and get it, then you won't have to worry. I also have a 10g guppy tank (cichlid food ) with no heater, and they're veeery happy, judging by all the babies that pop out of them.
