would 3 or 4 guppies be comfy in a bowl with live plant and air? | |
Roquen Hobbyist Posts: 141 Kudos: 82 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Feb-2004 | Probably a dumb question - but i have a decent sized bowl here, plenty of java fern and spare air pump.. was wondering if I could house a few guppies in there and do big water changes weekly? anyone tried this before? I saw at a LFS some guppies labelled as "cold water guppies" which got me thinking...! |

Personally I'd say no, especially if you mix male and female for obvious reasons . That being said, how many gallons is it exactly? Can the bowl be covered? How frequently would you be able to do water changes? ^_^ |

I'd never heard of "cold water guppies" before - they had them in a separate tank.. will try to stop in and get more info from the shop when i can.. .. |

Fish really need a tank, not just a bowl, and you should be doing water changes anyways... As said above the water temps can dip and rise so much in one day, do you really want to risk losing your fish to something that simple? And if by chance you do end up getting a female, it doesn't matter if you have a male with her, if she has been exposed to a male she very well maybe pregnant, and it isn't just this months drop, but dropping fry for up to 9 months from one encounter with a male So though this sounds like an awesome idea, please don't do it, invest in a 10 gallon tank, they are really quite cheap, then your guppies will truly be happy...
