Oleta Ultimate Fish Guru You can\'t rollerskate in a buffalo herd Posts: 3397 Kudos: 2260 Votes: 186 Registered: 16-Aug-2001 | Well, here's a current picture of my tank.. As you can see, one of my MH bulbs is boogered up and is casting a yellow glow.. Called Hellolights and asked them about it and the nice man there told me that when we screwed in the lightbulb that we must have done something to the silver seal at the tip of the socket and messed up the kelvin rating (or something to that effect).. Luckily enough however, they are sending me a replacement bulb.. Canopy still needs it's handles, trimming and a stain so that it matches the stand but I'm happy with it none-the-less.. I've also noticed that I must have a habit of standing tilted to one side Oleta attached this image: |

You didnt do anything that could have caused that. Its coming along nicely..tell your hubby that he did a nice job on the canopy. |

You know, I've completely lost track of how much rock is in that tank anymore.. I've got the original amount written down somewhere though, and I'll try and look it up when I get home from work.. I got the tracking code for the new light bulb in my email this morning, so hopefully I'll have the tank looking right within the next couple of days (give or take the Thanksgiving holiday).. I thought the reasoning for why the bulb was emitting yellow/green light sounded a little fishy, but since I'm no expert on MH bulbs I didn't really have much to compare it to.. Thanks for the info in regards to the bulb defect because it is indeed a 10k XM bulb.. |

DarkRealm Overlord Moderator metal-R-us Posts: 5962 Kudos: 2166 Registered: 23-Sep-2002 | The different colored parts in the sand are algae and anerobic bacteria. BTW Oleta, when are you going to take the "sold" writing off the tank? |

NEVER!! Sooner or later, my xenias will overrun this tank and you won't see anything on the back glass anyway.. Then I'll just pretend I cleaned the "Sold" off.. |

I think I leave that "sold" there for the express purpose of irritating Honeybeze and DRO.. Tracking at UPS.com says the bulb won't be here until around the 30th.. *sigh* |

I'm not really big on tinkering, so aside from the completion of the canopy, the tank is pretty much done.. My main goal, now that there is MH over the tank, is to find a nice clam.. I've always liked them so it's top on my list.. I'd also like to look around at some of the "vegetation" that can added to the tank.. I've always liked the look of sea grasses and macroalgeas, so that's really the direction I'll be headed.. Here's just a picture that struck me as funny.. I turned off one of the powerheads this morning while I was cleaning my cabinet under my tank and this little guy decided to investigate.. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how he got up to it.. The powerhead is a good 1.5"-2" from any of the rock.. Anybody know whether or not emerald crabs jump?? Oleta attached this image: |
