im thinking of setting up a 55g fowlr. i want a snowflake eel as my main fish. im looking for another hardy bigger fish that wont be eaten. i was thinking about a lionfish would that be good

It's basically any fish that is bigger than the eel's mouth. But since it is a 55ga, there are some restrictions.

I think a lionfish would be ok.

That will depend on the lion. A volitan gets very large. Another thing to keep in mind is lions are venimous. I have a 125 with a large volitan lion, and HAD a snowflake eel. Best I can figure is the eel got a little crazy near the lion and got stung. It lasted about 2 weeks and the eel died.

That sucks dthurs, but I can't say that's a common occurence. Often eels and lions are recommended tankmates...

For a 55 gallon, an Antennata Lionfish would be great. I've been told that Radiatas get too big for 55 gallons so I'm going to trust that advice. And of course, the Volitans would definitely outgrow. Better to be safe than sorry on the Radiatas, though. :%)
