Finally getting around to remodeling our basement.Thinking of an in wall tank for the partition between the finished and unfinished sides.Any recommendations on size as I want a F.O. or FOWLR to showcase some large fish.Since this will be a permanant fixture I want to do it right.

Feel free to take a look at my set up then. This is exactly what I did in my basement. http://www.thurs.net/dan/personal/saltwater%20tank/tank.html Then look at the tank project. This should give you some ideas.

One recomendation, especially if you might be finishing the other side in the future, is to get a predrilled tank, with overflows and such, in the middle of the tank. Or at least in the middle of the sides of the tank. This way, there is no real dead space on either side of the tank (in other words, you cannot see inside the overflows from either viewing side of the tank). Be sure all access doors are large enough for any changes you might make in the future. In other words, make sure you can remove/change any devices on/in/below the tank. Just in case any break, or you upgrade down the road.

HTH....

Thanks guys, this gives me alot to think about. As of now the wifey has a bathroom planned for the space behind the tank.I drew up a large closet seperating the spaces. The rest of the space will be storage so no real problems there.
I have been holding of finishing the 75g to reef for this project.I will be starting the demo of the room after Christmas.

Dan, Do the 125's handle all your needs? What I mean is have you ever wished you had gone with a 180 or 300.The only reason I may use the 300 is if she decides on a puffer.

It would have been nice to have a larger tank, but I really wanted two different kinds of tanks, and this was the only way I could do it. I just didn't have the room for a bigger tank.
