I've decided to buy saltwater from pet store when i eventually set up an aquarium. However my LFS is over an hours drive and would prefer to have some saltwater stocked up (just in case of anything). Is there any limits on how long i could store saltwater for.

None that I know of. The nly thing that comes to mind woudl be keep it in a barrel with a powerhead to keep the water moving.

You may also want to keep it covered to prevent evaporation.

Thanks for that just set up a cupboard somewhere to set up a powerhead unit and covered? I'm thinking of a cupboard so that it's kept dark, dry and at room temperature. Would that be okay.

That should be fine, but if possible, put a heater in with it. That way when you need to add some to your tank, it's at the correct temp.

is it necessary to have a power head to keep the stored water moving? Even it's kept in a dark and covered place like a barrel?

I'd say a powerhead is necessary, you don't want the water to get stagnant.
