Hi!
I have a 38 gal fw tank that I want to turn into a salt water tank.
I've never had a salt water tank before, so I'd like to know what exactly do I need (filters, lights, etc)
If someone could make some sort of shopping list, with all the stuff (models, brands) , besides the 38 gal tank, needed for a salt water tank, I would be really grateful.

I'd also like to know if I can re-use the sand in my fw tank for the salt water tank. It's a fine white sand.

Thanks!

Sorry, don't mean to re-post. I've been reading in other forums, so I already know basically what I need.
So my questions have been reduced.
I only need someone to recommend me a filter for the 38 gal tank.

Thanks!

Live rock is your best biological filter. Other then that, a simple HOB filter to help scrub the water and give you place to add carbon if needed. A skimmer will not hurt either.

I use emperior filters, they work well, never had any problems with them. I have also used Regent filters, lower price, and still work good. As for skimmers, I'm not really up on those.

I would really recommend the penguins becuase. They have been really reliable and bio-wheel aeroates the water which is a big plus. I use 2x penguin 170 on my 20 gallonn SW
