What sort of cloudy?

have you scraped algae recently? Overfed? Added anything? Is there microbubbles of any sort (algae on powerheads can do this) etc etc... Did any tank inhabitant stir up the sand bed without you noticing or did anything fall onto the sand bed?

Sorry about all the questions, but there are mnay things that can make a cloudy tank

It's possible that you stired up some sand when you did the water change. Was it cloudy before the water cange?

It depends, i dont get much pest algae growth now but generally you will see that the particles clouding the water are the same colour as the overall colour of the algae that you scrubbed. If thats the case, then yes thats what it was but im kind of thinking that thats not what it was because you probably would have noticed the colour, then again when its fine it can be hard to tell

Is it gone now?

Did you premix the salwater 24 hours ahead of time?

Sounds like it may be from SW that wasnt properly mixed. when fresh SW is used, it will usually have ammonia in it because of the chemical reactions that take place when mixing. This ammonia will go away, but only after being properly mixed ahead of time.

My water seemed to be lightly cloudy, not bad but you couldnt see clearly at the back of the tank. (at this time my skimmer wasnt working properly) once it started up though the water cleared within a few days. So it might just be cos of your lack of skimmer.

Thanks Rob
