cycling with live rock question | |

NIC can be used in both FW and SW tanks, but I'd just wait it out and use LR in this case. The purple stuff is algae (Coralline?), and very normal and healthy for the tank. BTW...bigger is better. It's easier to start off with a big tank than a small one, especialy in SW. Sure, it's more money, but the water doesn't fluctuate as much, and the params are easier to control. Not an Instant Ocean fan...I'll let Nate talk about that if he wants. Whats the sg? I don't think you need to feed the actual rock, but if you brough along any hitchikers, than you def. need to. As for the pepermint shrimp that is a def no no when cycling, when cycling if you want a fish i would say get either a damsel or a chromis and more live rock. are you going to have corals ? if so what lighing do you have? i would say a good fish for that tank would a bani cardinal or a fire fish (purple fire fish are the nicest IMO) with a clean up crew i would say 3 herits,4-5 bumble bee snails and a small shrimp. dthurs Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 4340 Kudos: 4170 Votes: 529 Registered: 18-Feb-2003 | They will do fine with flakes. They will also clean up around the tank. You can also add mysis shrimp, or blood worms. Mine go nuts over blood worms. Dan Dan |

You can feed every day, just watch to make sure it's eating. If it looks like it's not eating all the food, then feed less. Dan |
