I would wait AT LEAST a month.

Personally, I didn't add anything untill 6 months after my tank had cycled.

You should wait a few weeks after setting up the tank. The amount of live rock you use will effect this time. More rock, less time. It will also depend on teh type of fish you want. Clowns can be added early, other fish like tangs need to wait longer. Damsels are offered as starter fish because they are cheep and hardy. But you will wish you had not gotten them after a few months. They are very aggressive. The most important thing you need to remember is take your time. One fish at a time, then wait a month or more.

10 to 12 hours a day will be just fine. That will give your coraline algea enough light.

Whatever photoperiod you choose, just make sure it's consistent. Put your tank on timers; that way they lights always go on and off at the same time. Your tank will adjust to this, and many organisms need a regular photoperiod to ensure and enhance survival, growth and productivity.

Good luck with your tank! I'm in the process of setting up my first one right now, it's been months of research and planning.
