Im thinking about changing my 55g to saltwater. I need to what else I would need. so far I have an AC 500, 300 watt heater, and 2 24in strip lights all on the tank.

Make sure the bulbs are for marine. You will also need some powerheads, I would say two. A HOB filter will help. A skimmer is a good idea. Substrate, crushed coral, or sand. Fill with salt water, get up to temp, then add some live rock.

I was using two AC 300's on my 75g until I could purchase my live rock.I think the 500 is big enough for your 55 if you use the bio rings they just came out with.
