Your background distracts from the rest of the tank. If you agree & are willing to remove it, it can be changed without moving the tank. It's probably just taped on, so not hard to remove. As for a replacement background, use your imagination & look around the house. Lysaer used trash bags on his. I used tinfoil on the back of one of mine. An old sheet (no pattern) might work. With help, you can just hang & tape or whatever, onto the back corners. If I remember right, you want to keep your buildings. In that case they should be at opposite ends of the aquarium because they are different styles & sizes, as in different proportions. To keep the scene as realistic as possible, all other decorations, rocks, plants, wood, around the buildings should be in proportion to the buildings. In other words keep them all small, as a large piece of wood or rock next to one of the buildings would look out of proportion. The only exception to this might be that I think you might need some tall plants toward the back, maybe the sides & possibly the middle of the tank. I'm thinking you might want some more height in there but I could be wrong. If you go with a different background, you might want either some small or tall plants or some rocks at the back of the tank to breakup where the gravel stops & the background begins. Create a hill or two back there, & a rock back there might look like a mountain. Or some moss strewn in a thin line along some of the back might look like a row of trees if it was behind a ridge. I would build a hill & set the castle on it.I would dig a mote around the castle & use the bridge & see what that looked like. I would drape a little moss over the Greek ruin & see how that looked. I would also dig a gully & place some moss in that & see what effect that would have. Right or wrong, these are my ideas. Anyone else is welcome to comment on them. I don't know if I helped any, but I had fun. Thanks for letting me play with your tank for awhile in my mind! |
