Not all that yuk, though I admit it is doing a very good dead prawn impression there

The dark bits under his belly and the dark sections halfway up the claw bits are his actual claws, the bits that looks like claws are just shell. He did a pretty good job of getting himself loose, it was fascinating!

Worst bit was that the poor boy got stuck halfway through and I had to manually extract him with the help of some nail scissors. First time for everything! Now his back legs are backwards and his tail is a bit smaller than it should be (my fault, I'd never had that problem and I left him too long), but that should correct next time the molts

That's a really unusual (and very good) photo - did you put the shell back in with it so it could eat it?
