I have been checking in every lfs for months but no kuhlii loaches We stopped in a store tonight after going out to dinner just to browse and there they were in a tank with platies

Ended up buying 6 and they seem quite happy in my QT. Just a couple of pics while they were acclimating...

I need to get my guy some friends....maybe 2 or 3. He seems lonely. Good luck with them they are so Kuhl. Lol how lame. Anyway I am going to try to find some that have yellow stripes. Those ones are really awsome looking. The one I have now is black also. Are these your first ones?

Those are awesome, I used to have some years ago. They used to hide from me. They would burrow in the gravel.

17 years experience with freshwater.

Anyone who owns multiple kuhlis,

I have one and he only seems to come out at night and when I put food in the tank. If I get 3 more will he school with them and come out more? I have heard of these guys being social with ones of thier own species.

I now have three of these guys, like the ones in the picture. They are strange little critters, but peaceful and interesting to watch... when they come out from their hiding places.

Nice Theresa..they do look alike weather loaches
I had 6 Kuhli loaches but 3 of them did not do well!
I see them sometimes but they are mostly hiding.

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

No I actually had 8 in my 30g, striped and black. I lost all but 2 when I added some rummynoses to the tank without quarantining them first The 2 remaining I've had for over 2 years now.

If I get 3 more will he school with them and come out more?

Loaches definitely like to have friends IME they're shy at first until getting used to their new homes. They do appreciate hiding places, like driftwood.

I've been out of town since last Friday but all 6 are doing well in QT. They still like to stay together in a pile under one piece of wood. Quite happy and active when I feed them frozen bloodworms

I'll try to get some new photos soon.
