Last summer, I purchased 2 chinese algea eaters from the same pet store, from the same tank.

the one I didn't get a pic of is only about an inch long and is still looking like the pic in the profile here.

The other, as shown below, well look at him and you decide. He used to have the dark color up until earlier this year when he got larger. Now in this pic, he was being transfered from one tank to another, and is in one of the 4inch Lee's Specimin containers. this guy looks to be around 3 inches.

It looks like a Golden algae eater to me...which is a color variant of the CAE.

so these golden ones start out dark like the others? and if so, why hasnt the other i bought the exact same day grown at all? still about an inch, and there was no problem with them eating, as they was both in a 55g tank with alot of places to hide
