He was an alien immigrant in with a batch of ghost shrimp, im not really even sure what species he is, i think maybe a florida, but im not sure.Hes maxed out on growth though, had him a long time. Same size as an amano, doesnt really eat algae, just scavenges.

Anyway its a good excuse to practise my macro skills.

Enjoy, definite id appreciated!

Somewhat off-topic, but where did you get that amazing black gravel from?

And, love the pic of the Shrimp!

Have you tried anything similar to "Difinitive Guide to Australian Freshwater Fauna" - substitute your country/area for Australia - for identification?

The gravel is ground black quartz, my LFS stocksit. Its great, its inert, never goes white, gunge doesnt stick to it, it vacuums easily, and plants seem to love it. I have it in all my tanks now. It was really expensive and for the first few weeks you use it you will get brown diatomic algae, and a bag of it is so heavy you wont believe it when you try to pick it up.

Things love burrowing into it too, my banjo cats love it, and because the fish can see the food on it so clearly, they rarely miss a fragment. For gravel its really "self-levelling" too. Its nice and dark for all the amazon species, fish like tetras love it. Its the best substrate I ever used.

heres a few more of my latest macro shots
