I spotted a fry yesterday in the 20, which was set up as a permanent breeding tank for my pseudepiplatys annulatus, like the guy in my avatar (a possible father). The fry is about 1/4" long, hence the fuzzy fuzzy picture. I wonder how many others there are that are hiding?

Here's the fry:

And the most recent shot of the tank he's in (you can see why I think more could be hiding quite thoroughly!):

Short answer: a LOT of light. About 4.55 wpg on that tank. I'd probably get better results if I dosed ferts regularly - I never remember to.

Thanks, guys, I'm really happy about this fry - cute fry that will be gorgeous adults with absolutely no work on my part = priceless.

Jdubs - they're group spawners, you'd be better off buying about six.

Pseudepiplatys annulatus "Moribaya." They're wild-caught, so the fry is F1!

In terms of genetics, the parent pair is refered to as the "p" generation, and their offspring is the "f1" generation. The offspring of f1 is "f2", as so on...

ie. F1 fry indicates that they are the young of wild caught parents

Yup! My adult killies are wild-caught P. annulatus "Moribaya." Therefore, the fry is/are (I suspect there are a number) F1. Thanks for all the comments, guys, I'm really proud!
