Sadly, I lost a brace of shots (and still don't know how) including a lovely one of the Zebrasoma desjardinii Surgeonfish, the newly arrived Corydoras arcuatus and the Ember Tetras, not to mention a lovely shot of a Comma butterfly I took on the way home, but the following images survived the trip. I counted them afterwards and there were 28 of them. Sharing their tank was a pair of really huge Distichodus sexfasciatus Characoids from Africa, and a foot long Plec that was fairly dull coloured, but wasn't a Common Plec, because it had some really chunky looking spines on its pectorals and at the tail. Couldn't persuade it to come from behind its bogwood haunt to get a pic though. I suspect Cup_of_Lifenoodles would be able to identify it on the spot if he saw it. Oh, there was a separate display aquarium with Frontosas in, along with another that was a complete jungle of plants occupied by 20+ Rummy Nosed Tetras. The display marine aquarium is huge - didn't have a tape measure with me, but my estimate is that its 8ft long by 3ft deep by 3ft wide. The FP calculator says that its capacity is 448 gallons UK (538 US gallons or 2,038 litres) which probably accounts for why they have five Tangs/Surgeonfishes in there that aren't beating each other up. The Denison's aquarium is similarly dimensioned, while the Tanganyikan aquarium with the Tropheus duboisi in is a 3ft cube of 168 UK gallons capacity (202 US gallons). They're currently selling Denison's Barbs at £28 a pair. Sadly, the really lovely iridescent Lavender Discus had all been sold, despite the whopping price tag. They'd also sold the Pink Spotted Flymo Blenny this time round, and that lovely Butterfly Fish. In its place they had a gorgeous juvenile Zebrasoma desjardinii Sailfin Tang, but it just would NOT stay still! |
