Male Or Female? Anybody | |
monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | ok, I've had my flower horn for a year and half now. And I am having friendly arguments with family and friends about the sex of the fish. I say male because of the tail lengths, and others say female, because the lump on the head is not that big... anybody? He (I say) is almost 8 inches long right now) My Flower Horn (on the link page, you can click on it for the full size picture Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

Mez Ultimate Fish Guru Asian Hardfeather Enthusiast Posts: 3300 Votes: 162 Registered: 23-Feb-2001 | do people still buy these hybrids? what a shame. For the size/temperament they are, there are much nicer alternatives. Also, FH put hundreds of fish shops out of buisness in Singapore and the like as flowerhorn only shops started opening, just like in america. People who buy these fish should be aware that i class them as the same people that buy parrot fish. i mean, just get a Trimac?! |

Which also means if we dont want to listen, we dont have to. but anyway. You have alot then... Good, question.. What can use to make large caves for this guy? Other than trying to find 8in wide pvc? I know I could make caves from slate and other rocks, but I know he'd knock it down Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | Yea, I had 2 pots in there, one on its side one plastic one with side cut out.. he wont fit in either one. I'm thinkinig about geting creative with some of that plastic mesh material that people use as tank dividers and maybe some thin styrophom or something to make walls and make my own large caves Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

amilner Big Fish Posts: 429 Kudos: 654 Votes: 0 Registered: 05-Jul-2004 | That is a gorgeous fish (male for sure). Do you have a pair? Personally I'd suggesting 'building' your own 'rock cave' by fixing slate together with silicone to form natural hiding places for it. |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | Nope, hes all by him self. Well I'm going down to a local beach this week and thinking about getting some of the larger rocks, cleaning them, and then making a large cave out of them. I may just get some egg crate to help hold it and build it in a corner, so I wont need as many Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

monkeyboy Fish Addict Posts: 521 Kudos: 375 Votes: 223 Registered: 10-Apr-2005 | I'm thinking this and it may be a good idea. Take some egg crate to build a fr maybe using big rocks for the sides and then just slate ontop to reduce the weight Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |
