I'll be converting this to 2 thirds or maybe 75/25 Black Flourite/Gravel which I'm hoping will really improve the look as well as make the plants happier. Just not sure when this is happening yet. Would make a great winter project. Good luck in the contest I think you have a good shot The Amazon Nut... |

It's in the perfect spot for me and has room for all the tanks.. It's a good price for rent too. Guaranteed the next place, if it had the same amount of room will be more expensive. Arrrgghhhh ! The big one is I might have to move, which means I might not have enough room for all my tanks This might mean my 90 gal cichlid tank with my pet oscar, catfish and africans. I get upset thinkin about it. Also, right now I want to get the flourite and put it in my Hagen 29 then swap everything over from my setup 29. Why ? The Hagen is in better shape and sturdier, then I'll sell the other one.. I have a 30 gal empty also but saving that for when I can save the cash to do it all up with better lighting then replace the 29's altogether. Keep me posted on your tank, I like seeing how it's coming along. The Amazon Nut... |

I'm not very good at looking at a bare tank and planning how it will end up; but, I like how I have been able to aquascape this one as it grows. Seeing what plants do well, and which ones look good. I've really found that the big plants overpower it -- so I will be concentrating on the smaller, finer plants. The big ones I'm removing slowly so no mini-cycle or other issues of imbalance occur. |

I'm a long shot, but it will be a good experience. Piscesgirl Mega Fish Posts: 1305 Kudos: 892 Votes: 0 Registered: 30-Mar-2003 | Thanks Dafishman. I've entered it in the AGA contest this year. I won't win (I didn't even remove the sponge from the intake tube, or make any other aesthetic adjustments), but I guess the experience will be good. One of the guys in my plant club was trying to get everyone to enter. Your tank looks fine from what I can see. At home, my connection is too slow to view, and here at work, something is wrong with my computer in that pictures on the internet are very dark. However, looks good from what I can see. The only question I would have is the red substrate. Of course, each to their own. If it is what you like, than that is what you should have! Anyways, what I like about your tank is the bushyness of the plants, and the different colors contrasting each other.. Very healthy growth. Way to go ! Piscesgirl Mega Fish Posts: 1305 Kudos: 892 Votes: 0 Registered: 30-Mar-2003 | Thanks Dafishman. Nope, no fish. It's for shrimp and I like it that way They have entirely different behavior when there are no predators and no potential predators. Besides, there is not a speck of algae in that tank (knocks on wood). The shrimp are eating maniacs. The only sort of algae is seedlings from algae balls that used to be in there. Shrimp don't consider that algae and they don't eat it. It's easy to remove but I just leave it there. [span class="edited"][Edited by Sunflwrgrl Tsu 2004-08-28 16:22][/span] |

They love a heavily planted tank and only eat green algae, they'll leave your shrimp alone too.. They'd probably even breed in a planted tank that nice ! The Amazon Nut... |
