I was home for the weekend and got some pictures of my two pacu. I put a ruler in the picture to give an idea of how big they are. Sorry about the spots, I didn't feel like diving in to clean the algae, and the magnetic scrubber wouldn't get it off.

Enjoy!

Well, currently they are in a 150, of course that won't last forever. Anything in the tank is subject to destruction if they can get to it. I've had a lot of problems with heaters in the tank.

Sam has grown incredibly (4-5 inches in 2-3 months) since I put him in that tank. I've always been curious about the differences in his and thor's bodies. Sam is much more deep-bodied than thor is and he also has a much larger dorsal fin. I don't know if this is a difference in gender or not, but it's interesting to see.

They are incredible fish and surprisingly personable. I hope to be able to keep them to their mature size and maybe one day have a complete school, providing I can build something proper for them.

I'm not sure about the age of thor, however, sam is just over one year old. When I acquired thor, I was told he was three, which would make him about four now. However, I'm not sure why he isn't bigger.

Their diet consists of zuchini, algae wafers, and cichlid pellets. Occasionally they get banana too. Most of the time they are not picky about what they eat.

Right now I'm researching what else I can feed them. The volume of pellets and wafers that they eat is beginning to get expensive.

They are definitely pigs and can eat an impressive amount of food!
