My new RES tank | |
crickit99 Hobbyist Posts: 136 Kudos: 194 Votes: 2 Registered: 21-Jul-2004 | I just set up my RES (red ear slider) tank. It's a 45 long (same as a 55 but 18" tall). It's a camera phone pic, but I hope to get some better pics. I have 2 (about the size of a half dollar). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/crickit99/RES.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/crickit99/RES1.jpg |

It's a temp set up, and due to the filter location and the 'turtle dock' on the left, I mainly placed the driftwood for practical placement, rather than looks. I noticed it tends to get a lot of algae if in the water flow from the filter. I just stuck the rock in for an extra hiding spot until I get some rocks epoxied together (aquarium epoxy! LoL) I have stuff like that offset in my fish tanks, so I agree! LoL I am going to be making a basking area on top of the tank & filling the tank full of water eventually. I actually have a better piece of driftwood I want to use, I'm still trying to fully de-cyanobacteria it...plus, it's bigger so I want more water in the tank. This is actually my fave tank so far, the RES's are fun to watch, and it looks pretty cool...until time sets in and the turtles dig up all the plants and eat them, haha! I need to get pics of my other tanks, I think they could look better, and I'd love the advice. Last edited by crickit99 at 21-Dec-2004 16:47 |
