Hey I think an 80 gallon tank for now will be wonderful for 2-3" Oscars (not that you asked my opinion, but wait) If he had gone ahead and given you the 125 or 150 now, what would he have given you as a wedding present? See, now that is the way he is thinking Congratulations on the new tank, I know how much fun it is to get a new one, and the stand is lovely...heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I agree with Cup and heidi, those 2 oscars will be just fine for quite a while with great filtration and proper water changes. I want to address this though 80 G for two oscars. um.. alittle bit on the small size, espically for breeding oscars. i believe adult oscars when breeding should have a tank of 125 gal. actually, it's quite the opposite. a breeding pair of oscars will be able to get by in a smaller tank than 2 non-breeding oscars. a breeding pair will inhabit and defend 1 territory whereas 2 non-breeding oscars would each need their own territory. |

angeleel Fish Addict Posts: 561 Kudos: 472 Votes: 61 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | Hello and thank you, I do belive here is enough room now glad to see someone agree, I don't know if getting another tank if for them or me lol The O's are the only fish in the tank, I think its like a palace to them heheh. I do my water changes every week on tuesdays (yippie today is tuesday lol) and I do close to 50% every week. I know to some this may seem like alot but I like it this way water is cleaner. I also have plans for moving them in the far future, even though I think 80 is okay, I think I'm going to go with 100 when they are closer to full size. I'm starting to wonder what the hubby to be will get for the wedding gift.....I'm scared now*lol As for Bettachris and Moondog, I'm sorry maybe I should have added this was a gift as well, it would be a little harsh to tell my hubby to be that I don't want it, I'm sure it will do now for two three and a half inch oscars, so yes my plans are to move them when they are adults. Thanks as well heidi, i'm so happy =p Here are the measurements, I have never seen a 75 gallon around here, so I couldn't say. 48 inches long, 22.5 Tall, 18 Wide hmmm that measured with the oak rims...so that says 84 gallons... but its 80 just thought for visual like you asked those are the measurements. If you understand that Angel Eel Last edited by angeleel at 22-Mar-2005 12:20 |
