I actually have 3 in my 90g tank, they are fun guys. I can assure you 6 inches is nothin yet for your guy...(looks like a male), my larger one is reaching 8 and growing rapidly, and apparently in the wild these guys can exceed 18 inches...but I have seen 1 in captivity that was almost 12 inches.
