bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | Did the honorable thing and became a full premie after using up my 2 day trial + I got a digital camera last week = I can know bore people with my photos. First up the most recent addition, got about a month ago, a nice dwarf gourami male. Great fish, not at all shy always on the move and a bit of character. Shows no agression except to my magnetic glass cleaner which he attacks like a demon whenever I use it to clean the glass and he lokks pretty p***ed off at it too ! bensaf attached this image: [img]http://www.fishprofiles.net/attachments/400278.jpg"] Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | Ok this is one of my Angelfish. Must admit I was never that keen on Angels but this was acompromise to my wife who wanted a "big pretty fish". But since having this one I've changed my mind, surprisgly active and a lot of personality will follow me everywhere. bensaf attached this image: [img]http://www.fishprofiles.net/attachments/400280.jpg"] Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | This is some of my school of Hengali Rasboras. Neat little fish, very tight schoolers and make a nice alternative to Neons or Glowlights if you fancy something a little different. bensaf attached this image: [img]http://www.fishprofiles.net/attachments/400283.jpg"] Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | Ok last one (for now). This one is a bit of a mystery. Found some of these in a tank with Swordtails. I got 2 the other is more yellow then blue. Both male. I don't think they're sword(cos they don't have any ), they look too slim to be Platys and the dorsal fin doesn't look right for a male Molly. I'm guessing it's some kind of Swordtail/Platy cross hybrid. If anyone can tell me for sure I'll be glad to know. Either way very pretty fish. bensaf attached this image: [img]http://www.fishprofiles.net/attachments/400287.jpg"] Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

TigerAngel Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 | Great pics. The bottom looks like a female hi fin Neon swordtail.http://www.meijer.com/pet/fish/az.asp Males have the sword on their tails, females do not. Another site. http://www.tropicisleaquarium.com/fishlist.htm Also this site with the platy hi fin.http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile4.html http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile27.html [span class="edited"][Edited by TigerAngel 2004-07-21 10:55][/span] |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | Well they both have very distinct gonopodiums so they are male, which is why I don't think they are true Swordtails, but the color is very similar to the Neon Swordtail. The body is too slim for a Platy. So I'm pretty sure they are Platy/Neon Swordtail cross breeds. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | Thanks Nitro. Yeah the Hengali's are nice. Got a school of 9. They suddenly popped up a lot in some shops here (I'm in Indonesia), I think they may be wild caught. Very hardy, they settled straight in no loses. Spend most of their time in the top third of the tank and VERY tight schoolers. The orange stripe is very bright, they are less then an inch long but against a black background you can see them clear across the room. The Angelfish is nice, no idea if a he or she. The yellow coloring has started to really come thru in the last few weeks and keeps getting better. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | bethahex, You are right on the money I checked it out and actually the giveaway is that the Variatus male has a black area that looks like a gravid spot on the rear of abdomen, which both mine do. That confused me too, I was trying to figure why males had what I thought was a gravid spot. Thanks Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | MKcube Definately Hengeli Rasbora. Named after the guy who discovered them I think. It's a native Indonesian fish so probably wild caught. Becoming rare due to habitat destruction. There's a profile here http://aquaworld.netfirms.com/Cyprinoidae/Rasbora/Rasbora_hengeli.htm http://www.petresources.net/fish/cyprinid/ras_hen.html Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
