Sorry to be a drag fishy, but there's almost a zero chance that you saw true julii cories. Trilineatus cory cats can still be spotted, since they have widely varying patterns. |

The only thing is that C. trilineatus is the species which happens to be imported in large numbers and is bred in fish farms. Corydoras julii is a valid species, it's just insanely hard to get ahold of them in the aquarium trade. Really I agree, to me it makes sense to just label all of these fish "Corydoras trilineatus" in stores. They are what the consumer is seeing 99% of the time, so it's simple to operate under the assumption that all aquarium fish being called "Corydoras julii" are really C. trilineatus. I don't know why collectors and exporters persist in mislabling this species. |
