I try not to abuse my photo-posting privileges ... but fry in general are too cute not to post, especially any with blue eyes (like my other recent fry in this post). While I was in France, it seems my WC similis trio decided to abandon their traditional reluctance to have anything to do with the opposite sex (you can almost hear them talking about cooties, I swear - v. amusing, really, the way they've segregated themselves). Yesterday evening I glanced over at this tank, which gets short shrift attention-wise since it's in the kitchen, only to see four teensy little fry dancing around momma's shell. There are at least four but based on the presence of fry in two separate shells (mom 1 and mom 2, I guess) and the size/age? difference amongst them - ie some are probably still hiding within. Anyway, this is the oldest and most bold, fully finned and with the same striking blue eyes as his parents:

Here's the two moms (no good pictures of Dad just yet, he has intruiging extra stripes between the normal ones about his shoulders, v. cute, and a litle teensy nuchal hump):

Yes, they are. They're closely related to the more-common multis, hence the species name - similis means "similar." The main differences are that the similis appears to have dark stripes on the light body while the multi is the opposite, and the similis has two additional stripes in the neck/head area.

Looks just like my multi fry

You'll have many more than just the four you see now, and they no that they've started, they probably won't stop (mine haven't!).. so get a grow out tank ready.

Nice pic of the fry, I find it difficult to get any good shots of them.

Really nice pics The fry shot is great, such good perspective on size with the shells.
