The size of a Pacu | |
puffer_archer Enthusiast Posts: 288 Kudos: 250 Votes: 4 Registered: 20-Jul-2004 | Since I've joined this forum I've noticed a lot of discussion on Pacu, mostly on their size. I was at the National Zoo a while back and got several pictures of them. http://home.messiah.edu/~dw1178/pacu.html This was the only one that turned out well. My fiance stood in front of the tank as a reference on the size. Sorry it's a bit grainy, they keep it very dark there. In case you were wondering, if I remember correctly, the fish at the far right is an arapaima. [span class="edited"][Edited by 2004-08-09 09:29][/span] |

I'm not saying the occasional one couldn't get bigger. These guys are pretty close to that size. At any rate, I think it really proves why these guys are impractical for the home aquarium. I own two, and I'm already trying to figure out if I can build a 4 or 5 thousand gallon indoor pond for them. |

Oh I live only like 4 miles away!! Too bad they closed down, the gar tank with the red tail catfish was stunning.. I loved that place.. the pacus were pretty big. |
