Two tanks and a paludarium! | |
superlion Mega Fish Posts: 1246 Kudos: 673 Votes: 339 Registered: 27-Sep-2003 | I don't think I've ever posted pictures of my aquaria on here, at least not for a very long time. I didn't take any of the 60 or its inhabitants, but I got a handful of shots of my two 10s and the 20 I've recently converted into a paludarium. The planted 10 cherry barbs (male is obvious, the two girls are hanging out behind the heater) another shot of the male cherry barb Badis (chameleon fish) better pic of his face 10-gallon guppy tank (plastic plants), full tank shot didn't turn out, so here's some of the fish - two young males Male and female (and algae scrubber) There are a bunch more guppies in the tank, of various ages, but they don't sit still very well so I moved on... 20 gallon paludarium (aquatic part is ~4 gallons), contains one badis that you can't see, water is pretty turbid ATM you can see some of the java fern and crypts through the murkiness in this pic ><> |

Yes, there will be more plants (there already are quite a few in the aquatic section, I just got a bunch of crypts today), going for a Southeast Asian sort of thing (although the maidenhair fern I have, I suspect might not be so SE Asian... but there are some species of maidenhair fern from there so I'll call it ok). Will be getting a cutting of a jewel orchid from a family friend who used to run an orchid greenhouse. I probably will want to get one more small terrestrial plant for the back corner. And I am keeping an eye peeled for hairgrass, as I'd really like to put some right in front of and around the slate waterfall thing ><> |

Rather slowly right now, I need to work on that and figure out what it is that's slowing the pump down. I think the piece of nylon stocking that I covered it with to keep dirt from going in is bunching up and blocking the inlets. I'm glad you like the 10. I'm pretty happy with it, but I want to get the Egeria to fill in the back half or so. It'll be a while before that's done. I'm looking forward to taking the twine off the Anubias and them getting bigger too (at which point they may move to a different tank) ><> |

Haha, just pulling your leg, it looks pretty cool. I REALLY like that piece of wood sticking out. My skipper tank just has a fake floating turtle rock, so it definitely kicks the butt out of my pseudo-paludarium in terms of aquascaping. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
