A while back, I rescued a betta from my LFS. Literally rescued. I knew no one would ever take him in his condition, so I asked to bring him home, heal him up and bring him back. The LFS told me to keep him. Here's Spartan when I first got him:



I had him for a week or so, then my sister offered him a home (my room's a bit overcrowded with fish ), so away he went. He came back looking MUCH better:



He'll never have perfect fins, but at least I know he has a chance at a full, healthy life! And despite being a bit camera shy, he is no longer the scared little betta that I got him as!



Next betta on the list is Feather... This is just a "wow lookie how much he changed!" type deal:


Note that the green is the light bouncing off his scales. (Why do bettas always reflect that aqua green colors anyway?) He's actually a somewhat medium/dark velvety blue, a darker shade of his original coloring.

My sister has two other bettas besides the battlescarred Spartan. The eldest is Sapphire, who has THE longest tail I've ever seen on a veiltail. Okay, so the picture sucks. Sorry... He does NOT like the camera.

He's been with her for a year and a half and is her "old man." His eyes aren't so good anymore, and he's changed from his original colors over the years... he used to be the colors of really good sapphires (blue/black). Now he's a bit more of a grizzled color. Oh, and he has the odd white splotch between anal and caudal fin.

Her other betta is the newest... and a nice find at the LFS. She fell in love with his coloring and is now her "desktop" buddy. Meet Poseidon, the mustard gas:
