sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004 | Thanks folks, I guess I'm sorta spoiled in respects to the fish I have access to. Thanks again for the pleco i.d. I pointed the fish out to a manager, now I get to dictate the price and I'm supposed to look the fish up. About time they trust me with something The humpheads here are going for $20 per. Yep, those garnets are awesome. Again, some of my favorite tetras. They're slow sellers, but that's because our fw customers have no taste whatsoever. I was stupid and forgot to take a pic of the big 'ol flagtail. I'll bring the camera in next weekend, I promise. You'll see it and Flapjack (a large ray) when I post the pics. Sad to say, but I think I'm going to look for a new job. Though I love the fish selection here and I generally dig the prices, I'm fed up with the staff. I like my co-workers, but they don't seem to work very hard. The managers are worse; though I'm too naive to notice everything, they do seem to be very inflexible with hours (bad news for me) and also seem to be taking advantage of me. I'm looking into another pet store; this one is closer to my house, so that would shorten my commute from forty minutes to twenty. I'm going for a more flexible schedule, perhaps higher wages (I'm making $.60 above minimum wage now), nicer management, and I'll probably have more clout there. They kind of know me, which is a plus. Hopefully I won't be bottom scum if I can move to this other store. |

sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004 | LPS. The place I work at is fish-centered, half the store is fish stuff. The other store is tiny, and is still probably 1/2 to 1/3 fish. If I worked there, I'd be working the registers, reptiles, small animals, and fish all at once. That's the major problem I have with it. My area has a terrible selection of pet stores, I have to drive forty minutes (current commute) to find a city with decent ones. The closest three are the one I'm looking at and two chains. I don't want to work either chain store, especially since I had a terrible experience at one. I've never even seen one away from my compter monitor before, but if I ever do, they'll be gone faster than you can say "what the hell is his problem?" Also, you weren't too far off on your original assumption; sultans and triactus belong to the same genus. Humpheads are 15 per here, ten with the employee discount. Are you working at an LFS or an LPS (Local Pet Store, but you probably knew that already)? I decided not to limit myself, and also took some pictures of some of my favorites. Not all of them cooperated, but I got some pretty good photos of the ones that did. Enjoy! I have yet to see Humphead Glassfish in person, but if I did I probably would avoid buying a school. Price, you know... I haven't even gotten Congos or Glass Catfish before. You can see proof of this through the next batch of pics. Oh, my bad. It got mixed in with our sultans, then. I figured that since that was the largest pleco, it just had changed colors a bit. I'm still sorta mainstream on plecs.:%) More pics... Garnet tetras (Hemigrammus pulcher).
