Hiya everyone, managed to get a few shots of my yabbies feeding the other night and thought you might like to see them ...

They all live together in perfect harmony

Beautiful!
My LFS has got identical yabbies and was suggesting them for my 50g. Ive heard stories of them chopping pieces off fish much bigger than them...so i preferred watching them in the LFS tank

Some of the koi are quite considerably bigger than the yabbies.

I have not lost a goldfish or koi to a yabbie thru injury yet. As I said, they all get on really well and live happily together.

The pond is about 7000 litres so its quite large. I dont know that I would recommend them for an aquarium with fish, in that case you may expect some injury to your fish through lack of space.

Have you ever heard the yabbies called "crayfish" thats what we call them in Canada. I was wondering if they were the same thing or not. Here we find them under rocks in the lakes.

Here is a picture of a "crayfish"

That looks like the same thing.

We have "crayfish" here but they are saltwater and found in the ocean.

We have a freshwater cray which we call "marron" and they live in dams and smaller sections of our rivers where there isn't too much fast water flow.

We also have things called "Gilgies" which i think is another name for yabbies and also "Coonacs" which are smaller and are found in dams on farms.
