DaMossMan Fish Guru Piranha Bait Posts: 2511 Kudos: 2117 Votes: 359 Registered: 16-Nov-2003 | Someone was going to trade me some of my endlers for plants, he waited 2 months to complete the trade, by then no room for my endlers. Got these plants for free ! Laetacara dorsigera cruising the Dwarf hairgrass... Brazilian microswords - chewed up by prior keyhole cichlids and in the pot too long + algae, but hoping to make it grow ! Mr. Oto resting peacefully * sings * Take me down to the Paradise City where the hairgrass is green and the girl is Purtay... (note - Purtay is on the left) 'bought' as E tenellus, turns out it's E angustifolius ! Largest is 16 inches in height ! Hope you enjoy Da The Amazon Nut... |

I used to have four dorsigera of my own, but they've all unfortunately passed |

"I can see that your Laetacara dorsigera have taken quite well to their new home, and theyll have a blast exploring through the plants." - These fish are awesome, took me 6 months to get them, it was worth the wait ! "I used to have four dorsigera of my own, but they've all unfortunately passed" - Awww sorry to hear that Zach Are you going to try to get some more ? EDIT Adding couple full tank shots. Plants aren't in the best shape but at least now it's something I can start to work with I've gotten rid of the plant collectoritis problem in this tank, got rid of several species, and added 5 new ones. For the first time in 2 years I'm excited about this tank ! Now I have to learn to make it thrive 40g - 'SouthAmeriKazian' plant list. 01. Jungle Val (Vallisneria americana) 02. Flourish Excel - half dosing due to Vals in the tank. (10ml initially, then 5ml daily) Flourish Comprehensive - 3ml (once per week) #2 Potassium sulfate - half teaspoon (once per week ?) #3 Potassium nitrate - half teaspoon (once per week ?) #6 Chelated Trace Elements - did not dose as may have caused algae outbreak last time. The downoi has visible growth, and the crypts have perked up a bit I noticed, particularly the Mi-oya. This is encouraging ! I took today off work to study, took a side-trip to the fish store and bought a phosphate and iron test kit. 2ppm phosphate and ZERO chelated iron ! Reduce phosphate, easy, more water changes LOL. I need Iron. I think I'm going to try the Flourish Iron for now over the chelated trace elements, that way have more direct control over it. It I add iron and change water more I'll be a step closer to a more balanced tank. The Amazon Nut... |
