If I was setting up a desktop tank for work again I would definitely investigate these!!!! Those tanks are stunning. It would be fascinating to see them set up shop in a particular shell...you are right about their behaviour being fascinating. Thanks so much for sharing.... Those shots are gorgeous. They are beautiful little things. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

Theresa_M Moderator Queen of Zoom Posts: 3649 Kudos: 4280 Votes: 790 Registered: 04-Jan-2004 | Thanks I have multies, brevis, and stapps. Most shellies prefer a sand substrate except multies who would rather have lots & lots of shells. To buffer the tank water I have a small la I have 8 but at least 3-4 of them don't have their stripes yet, meaning they're still young. They each claim a shell which is their home-territory-and they also use the shells for breeding. I personally wouldn't say shellies are the flashiest African cichlids but they're fascinating to watch; definitely have personality. There is a good beginner shelldweller article here]http://www.fishprofiles.com/articles/freshwater/shelldwellers/[/link] and [link=ShellDwellers.com is a great site for lots of shellie info. Up close what colour are they? That is a very, very unusal looking tank isn't it? I bet you get lots of ooohs and ahhhhs. I was wondering what a setup would look like becasue people often offer this as a possible for a 10g Very cool ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
