I have 1 wpg. There will be just 2in of basic gravel. Besides the usual anubias and crypts what other plants are good for low light. I also know about anarchis and the javas. I would like a smaller sword also. Im willing to root fertilize. |

There's also a fern called bolbitus that will grow on rock or driftwood similar for java fern, but has a somewhat different look to it. Other than those, you've already named the plants that will do okay in low light: anubias, crypts, java ferns, some sword plants. Supposedly some vals will grow in low light, though they will probably grow long and thin (which is great if that's that you want), and Hygrophilia Polysperma will grow okay in low light, though again it will probably get pretty leggy. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |

My new plant list... 1. Hornwort - Ceratophyllum demersum 2. Java Moss - Vesicularia dubyana 3. Java Fern - (Microsorum pteropus) 4. Java Fern ‘Wendelov’ - (Microsorium pteropus v. "Wendelov" ![]() 5. Java Fern ‘Lace’ – (Microsorum pteropus v. 'Tropica') 6. Limnophila Sessiliflora (Asian Ambulia) 7. Corkscrew Val – (Vallisneria americana v. biwaensis) 8. Cryptocoryne x willisii 9. Crypt – have to identify. (resembles lutea but reddish brown and wavy) 10. Sagittaria Subulata – Dwarf Sag 11. Sagittaria – to be id’d, (not subulata, longer and thinner ‘leaves’ ![]() 12. Wisteria – Hygrophilia Difformis 13.Pennywort – Hydrocotyle leucocephala 14. Vallisneria – (straight val ?) still too small to tell. This is all in my 29 gal with 30watts, DIY CO2 into a Hagen bottle, no special substrate. I only use ferts if the plants show to be lacking something, in which case I'll add a little liquid fert, and jobes plant sticks (for lush ferns and palms) broken into quarters. Welcome to plant addiction ![]() The Amazon Nut... |
