Plus do corys enjoy heavily planted tanks or moderalty planted? O yeah going to have a queen pleco in there as well. Your Suggestions are greatly appreciated. |

For a low light setup you will most likely not need any ferts and I wouldn't recommend adding any unless there are definite signs of malnutrition. I'm pretty sure that corys would appreciate some open gravel space to forage for food. There are some other low light plants that you can search around for at [link=tropica's website]http://www.tropica.com" style="COLOR: #FFD700[/link]. Doing a Google on Low Light plants would also be helpful. A general tropical Aquarium requires 2W per G A planted tank requires 2-3 W per G Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A general tropical aquarium with no plants doesnt need much light at all. Just enough for you to see the tank. You can also grow plants in as little as 1 wpg IME (make sure you have the right plants though). Save the ferts for if your plants show signs of malnutrition though. Otherwise you may have a nasty algae outbreak. Chris Last edited by weighates at 25-Jul-2005 01:14 |

I had recently a major die-off over a weekend when I was not at home (after I replanted and put my star grass too close to each other). This will give me a little over 2wpg and should be sufficient (until I decide I need CO2 ![]() Ingo ![]() |

You need an entirley new light strip. I think I paid around $80 for my 65 watt 1 for my 29g. I am also running another 20w which gives me 3 wpg. So at 1 wpg Id suggest java fern and java moss. Its really hard to kill those 2 off so you should be gtg. But all plants that will survive in 1wpg wont grow very fast so dont expect them to just grow overnight. Chris |

They come with a reflector, light fixture, and I think a ballast as well. You should look into these sets as they are cheaper. I paid for my 65w fixture with bulb about $ 65, including shipping (haven’t received it yet though), and prefer this over becoming a mechanic and doing electrical work myself. Hope this helps, Ingo ![]() |

Just use the link I provided up there and search for low light plants. Or you can grow the others that I listed as well. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

I dont think youll need to add ferts with only 1 wpg but ya never know. Chris |

Java Fern, Java Moss, crypts, anubias.. You can get quite a variety of some of these and most are low light ![]() The Amazon Nut... |

As the Home Depot guy told me, That size Bulb only comes in 20 watts (unless you get the compact higher wattage lights) because flourescent wattage is a function of their length. S basically, running the light that came with it you are about .66wpg, fairly low. ![]() ![]() |
