Okay. I have a 46g, and I'd like to add some more live plants. I have one aspongus that is kind of in the middle of my tank, can I move it to the back with out killing it?

Also I have several plastic plants:
Foxtail and Hornrot( something like that)

What Live plants could I mix in there that wont clash with the ones I have now?

Stock list of fish:
1x African Chichlid

Thanks!

Inkling,

just a few questions first:

- What is your lighting situation (watts etc.)?
- What is your ph (cichlid I guess have higher ph, right? )
- What is your substrate (and height of it as well)

Ingo

Edit: what is an aspongus? I know Anubias and Aponogeton.

Im not sure how many watts I have, but it is near a window that gets plenty of light during the day, and at night I turn the light on for a brief period.

I try to keep the PH at about 7

Aspongus

Direct sunlight is a major no-no, it causes major algae problems. The angle of light will also cause fish to swim funny, they tilt themselves to the light. The tank should be away from sunlight and the lights in the hood should be on a minimum of 8 hours, if the wattage is high, 12 hours if the wattage is poor, more is not better. Timers are a great investment, I picked up NOMA timers at Canadian Tire at X-Mas time for under $10 CDN each.
Once Ingo knows what the wattage is he can give you lots of suggestions. My plants are all mostly low-light, java fern, anubias, cryptocornes, java moss. There are lots of nice plants that you could put in your tank. I would avoid any really fine-leaved plant as most cichlids look at them as a salad bar. Unless you really don't mind them 'pruning' the plants for you, it's actually good for them, the roughage helps to prevent Mbuna Bloat.
Hope any of this helps, I'll hand you over to the experts!

P.S. Can't find aspongus on google or mywebsearch, more info needed!

Aponogeton, sorry.

I moved the tank away from the window, but the room still gets alot of natural lighting. I havent had an alge problum since October when I got it (givin there was nothing in it but water until December)
