I recently moved my one & only betta from a 2.5g hex to a 5g Mini-Bow. It was previously a grow-out tank and only had the crypts in the right of the picture.

This guy likes plants...at one point he had an anubias he slept under or on, he plays tag with himself around the palm, and since the move he's been resting under the crypts.

So I'd like to add more plants, especially since I plan to buy an ADF friend. I'm thinking mainly for the back since he's really taking advantage of the larger tank space. I'm not sure if I like the palm in there and may move it. The pieces of anubias were/are floaters but he plays with them

The tank is 9-10" high, the filter is just left of center but I have a sponge on the output to slow it down.

My betta and I thank you for any suggestions

Hi Theresa,

This is my own 5 gal mini bow. Not quite complete yet (waiting for the new Riccia to cover the netting like the one in the front left corner).

See anything that interests you just holler

Oh yeah, there's a Betta in there too....somewhere

I like the tank ben...can I have it .

...he plays tag with himself around the palm...
!

I'd keep to smaller plants (obviously >.&lt nothing that has large leaves...in fact the crypt almost looks too big for the tank . Got any spare driftwood lying around Small piece with a bunch of baby javas tied to it might be good. It'd give the illusion of larger plants but on a smaller level :%).

What's the lighting on the tank?

Only if you come pick it up Babel

You are right though, some wood and rock would be a huge help. It's damn near impossible to shape an aquascape well with just plants.

A nice piece of wood, some rocks, a handful of Anubias Nana Petite, Wendelov Fern, Moss and some Tenellus or Dwarf Sag and voila you have an extremely low maintenance Betta heaven that's nice to look at

I certainly would hunt for an interesting piece of DW and some interesting small rocks. Draw it out full size, DW, rocks, then your selected plants. With a tank that size try not to have a garden salad (too many species/varietes of plants.) There have been some excellent small tanks planted recently.

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
