	Add Ferts To Speed Up Java Fern Growth?
Brian1216 Hobbyist Posts: 97 Votes: 0 Registered: 28-Apr-2005	I have a 29 gallon tank with mostly artificial plants in it except for a small Java Fern on my driftwood. It is growing slowly but is getting many daughter plants on the leaves and is getting thicker. I was wondering if i could put some ferts in to speed up the growth even more. What fertilizer would be good to use and how often should i use it? Is this unneccesary for just Java Ferns? I have about a 1 WPG light. Thanks!

upikabu Fish Addict Posts: 591 Kudos: 393 Votes: 44 Registered: 08-Jun-2005	IME Flourish Excel helps speed up Java Fern growth in the absence of external CO2 addition. It should be able to get the other nutrient (NPK & micros) from feeding and regular water changes. -P

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004	Java Fern is a very conservative plant. Doesn't need too much in the way of nutrients. About the only thing that will speed up growth significantly is CO2. Some current on the plant heps with overall health. Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.
