I actually posted this in another thread, but I recently got these pics and wanted to make it fresh again.

I'm having problems with thread like algae getting on the leaves of my wisteria and dusty looking algae forming on the service of the java moss.

Notice the dusty looking algae on the left front java moss.
The second image is a closer look.

I'm currently running 96w cf 6700k bulb on this 46g tank.
no co2. Anyone have any ideas on how to control algae and get plants to grow better.

Tetratech,

Can't see the photos either. But it sounds like Co2 is the answer you need.

PLants use light thru photosynthesis, Co2 is the fuel that drives the photosynthesis engine. Without sufficient co2 the plants can't fully use the available light, so something else does - algae.

At just over 2 wpg you really need some form of co2 supplementation. Once you move out of the low light end of things planted tanks become a balancing act. Light, Co2 and nutrients need to be balanced. Once you get to 2 wpg of light , without the other 2 elements you have in fact created an imbalance that the algae will make use of.

If you don't want or can't afford a pressurized system, you could try a DIY system. It would help enourmously.

I can't identify the algae from the photographs. It may be tired eyes...

This is a look to identify the type and suggested treatments: http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/algae.html

I have used AlgaeFix and a dark room for three days to knock down and now out Black Brush Alagae (BBA).

You really do not have many plants in this tank.
The moss is hurting.

As mentioned CO2 would help. Moss can only use CO2, not bicarbonate.

I'd add the moss to all the wood you have in there, it'll attach and grow better there.

Then plant something that is not such a trap for fine particles on the bottom.
