not out of the question for an average hobbyist with an above-average sized tank.

It would be way out of the question.

Light is the biggest issue. Plants don't grow in that depth in the wild. Need some powerful lights.

Don't know how he pumps in Co2 ? Imagine the ferts bill !

This tank is rumored to have cost $400,000 !!!!!!

Plant choice is critical. It's designed to need no maintenance with regard to trimming plants.

An algae problem in tank like this would be a disaster. No way to trim/remove the alage.

As usual from Amano, a deceptively difficult tank.

But seriously, I bet it's surprisingly little work, once set-up. The work was all in his head, designing etc.

That's really gorgeous... and it looks like most of the plants are attached to the wood, aside from the grasses in the back, so I'd bet the maitenance isn't that bad, actually. It clearly has a plumbing system for water changes and possibly sump filttration, and none of those plants would require tons of light or CO2, so really, it's an ideal setup for something that large, and really, not out of the question for an average hobbyist with an above-average sized tank. I personally love the open top and the height of the wood. I'm surprized he doesn't have orchids or something growing on the branches above water...

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

I had not seen those photos before. Almost unbelievable, until you see them for yourself. Must be fun to have basically an unlimited budget, time & space to do something like that. Plus the talent.

Yup tetratech,

I have seen this one before. I remember the first time I saw it I was blown away, and then I got very envious.

This time around I really would like to have some of that driftwood

Do you think we could persuade the wifes to convert one room in our houses to host one of these babies ?

Awesome, just awesome,
