Hello all. Its been a while. I was browzing as usual at a fish store today when I noticed a very nice anubias specimen. It was about 7 in. tall with 8 leaves. It was only $3.99 so I bought it. It looks very similar to Anubias congensis. I have to look it up. After all of my time keeping Anubias, i have only placed them in gravel. I want to try something different a place it on a clay pot. Will the roots attatch to a clay pot? If they dont, I have a nice piece of red/purple shale rock that is not in my tank. I could attatch it to that.

The roots will definetley attach to the pot. They'll attach to anything. In my shellie tank my anubias roots attach to the grains of sand, and that holds the plant down after a while (when i pick the plant up there are clumps of sand covering the roots, it's pretty wild).

Great find, congensis is I think my favorite anubias

That certainly will work as clay pots a porus and not a smooth surface. Tie it on firmly with fishing line first until it grips by its self.

clownloachfan,

I third the above mentioned opinion, you should have no problem attaching it to a clay pot. In case you don’t have any fishing line handy, a stronger thread will do as well.

Tie it to the clay pot with some fishing line & don't worry much, it will attach in a few months.

Well, it wasn't cooperating on the clay pot so i tried attatching it to a piece of rock, still did not work. It kept on leaning over each time. I just put it in the gravel then. I think the major problem is that it is way to tall with not a big long rhizome like those in A. barteri, coffefolia or nana.
