Is this plant a root feeder or does it take ferts from the water column?

Thanks,
matt

Actually both.

Like all Anubias does best tied to something, rock or diftwood. It will feed through it's roots but when tied will take nutrients directly from the water column through it's roots. It can be planted in the substrate but be careful not to bury the rhizome otherwise it will rot.

If you want the plant at substrate level you can just tie to a small rock, just big enough to keep it wighted and drop it in the tank at your desired location, it will do fine.

I have what I call an Anubias tank. Several varieties are used, the large varieties are all floating free at the back of the tank. All the medium and smaller varieties are either tied to rocks or driftwood. This makes it easy to clean the subbase in the front as this is the only section I can get to.
I use a liquid fert 2.5ml twice a week. No Co2 has ever been used or do I intend to. Too much water and air movement.

Just in case you have not seen my tank here it is.

Thanks guys

Mine has already anchored itself into the gravel, rhizome on top of course....I'm learning! I found out recently that it's my dechlor that's taking out iron and other heavy metals from my water....I should have realized that sooner. Most of my plants have the telltale signs of Iron deficiency...yellow new leaves and green veins. I guess I know what to do.

Lovely tank there keith, it has the nice flow of a single continuous thought. I guess the no CO2 comment was somewhat directed at my post in another thread. Still learning, but I think my advice was pretty sound. I think people have to get into a rhythm with fert dosing, and it's better to underdose than overdose until you get the feel. I know I wish I would have done that. Now I'm working to get back into a balance.

oh man did I just ramble on....way off topic. Probably have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm just glad this is my thread .

My comments were made totally unaware about you using Co2

I have gone into setting it up but stopped very quickly when I saw the big $$$ cost.

I also have read many times since especialy here that it would be totally unsuitable for my tank, especially with all the water movement and strong air bubbles.

As I figured you had no idea what I was talking about.

Still a beautiful tank. I bet it took a lot of patience without the CO2 to watch those slow growers fill in the gaps.
