Have you considered giving the wood a bleach bath? With 19 parts water and I part bleach, scub the wood. Then hose it off and submerse it for a day in water that has some dechlor in it. Hose it off again and you should be ready to go. Not that I ever did that, but I read here that this would work. Ingo ![]() |

dan76![]() ![]() Big Fish Always Reading Posts Posts: 343 Registered: 08-Jul-2003 ![]() ![]() | ingo i just wanted to be lazy, i guess my main question is will drying the algea out kill it? some of my wood is 7 ft long and very hard to immerse in bleach solution. also i have a tin roof on my house so sitting the wood up there to bake away for a couple of weeks should kill the algae . i will have to try it and see |

It will dry it out, and most of it will then flake off or can be scrubbed off with a dry, stiff bristled brush, but I doubt that it will be removed completely. This is really amazing stuff. The Cyanobacteria is one of the most ancient forms of life on earth.
