Well went to the large pet store to get some shrimp for my puffers, and picked up this plant, they didnt know what any of there plants where and i saw some smaller swords I think but they told me they didn't have time to look them up. Ugh, anyways I don't have a clue what it is but I got two of them for four dollars this is the bigger of the two. I did however get a tagalong which looks like it may be grass it was mostly root with a couple of little pieces of green hope it grows to something nice.

As far as info I think the size of the LFS or chain store has nothing to do with it at all. I prefer to shop at smaller LFS that is owned and managed by the person behind the counter. To check out if they are well informed ask a few questions that you are sure of the correct answer. Eg does this fish go with that and can they go into a small tank, or a similar question.
Also ask if they are prepared to order something for you.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

I believe that's a Banana plant
Here's a link with some more info Banana Plant

Edit: Haha, or you can ask them if it's ok to leave the plants in the pots with the rockwool.

Yes, that is a banana plant, or scientifically known as Nymphoides aquatica.

Some more info on your new plant;
Only plant about 1/3 of the "bananas" into the substrate or they will rot. You don't have to plant any or the "bananas" though, but the plant may get blown around by the current.
The leaves' stalks will eventurally grow long enough for the leaves to reach the surface, and there they will float, a lot like a lilly.
They have a very lovely flower if you get one to bloom.
They require medium lighting, or about 3-4 watts/gal min.
Sometimes they shoot out runners, that can be clipped and planted.
You can also clip some of the floating leaves, with about 4+ inches left on it. Then just let it float for a few weeks. You will see roots start to form at the end of the clipping. Just plant the roots into the substrate and you will have another plant.

Wow thanks guys I once again bow to the knowledge of the fourm. Actually I was being sarcastic about the size of the fish store. My LFS though he is a bonafide Marine Biologist he carries no plants... just corals so while he will give me plenty of information on plants he just doesnt carry them. I am very excited I am really hopeing to get it to bloom, hey on that note anyone know of a plant that flowers underwater?

Ok, I "think" this one is a micro sword and I have another I am going to take pictures of and see if I can find it somewhere but its a little worse for wear so I may have to wait till it grows out a bit.
